The heroes of Bird Speech are people living on the margins of society - a history teacher whose views diverge from the dominant narrative, an unemployed Polish teacher, a cleaner, a florist, a composer suffering from leprosy and a high school student preparing her first film. These marginalized heroes must cope in a world where thoughtlessness and following the crowd become a dominant attitude.
Birds' speech is a film adaptation of the last scenario of Andrzej Żuławski who died in 2016. The music for the film was composed by Andrzej Korzyński, a longtime collaborator of Żuławski and Andrzej Wajda. Andrzej Jaroszewicz is responsible for the photos, with whom Andrzej Żuławski previously worked, among others, on the Silver Globe and Szamanka. Thanks to this, bird speech is a great tribute to one of the most rebellious creators in the history of Polish cinema and an extraordinary commentary on the exclusion and mechanisms of action of modern society.
Birds' speech is also an extraordinary story of exclusion and alienation in contemporary Poland and searching for a place in a world in which every difference is tried to be marginalized. Birds' speech is defiant, anarchist and crazy. It won't let you forget about it for many months.
